In May, driven by a desire for an escape, I set out on a solo journey to Manali, a gem in northern India. Initially planned as a group trek, the trip turned into a solo adventure, promising a blend of thrills and tranquility amidst the Himalayas. My journey began at Gandhinagar Railway Junction with a 24-hour train ride filled with engaging conversations and card games with newfound companions. Arriving in Pathankot, I briefly stayed at Hotel Krishna Regency and explored the local market, enjoying culinary delights from Billa Lassi Wala and Fouji Dosa Corner before continuing to Manali. Manali welcomed us with its pristine beauty. The Ridge View Hotel offered majestic mountain views. After settling in, we embarked on an acclimatization trek to Baror Parsha Waterfall, a lush jungle path leading to a magnificent waterfall where we spent hours soaking in the natural beauty. The following day featured exhilarating river rafting, followed by a visit to the serene Hidimba Devi Temple, a historical site dedicated to the wife of Bhima from the Mahabharata. We explored Mall Road, the bustling heart of Manali, perfect for shopping and enjoying local cuisine. Evenings were spent bonding over conversations and card games. Rohtang Pass was next, with its snow-covered expanse providing a magical experience despite a brief visit due to safety concerns. We also visited the Vashisht Temple, famous for its hot springs, and local markets. Paragliding in Kullu offered a liberating experience, followed by serene moments in Kasol’s riverside cafes and vibrant market. Our journey to Amritsar included the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, and the Wagah Border ceremony, evoking national pride and unity. The journey back to Gandhinagar was filled with reflections on scenic vistas, newfound friendships, and personal revelations. This solo adventure in Manali was a testament to the enriching experiences awaiting those willing to venture alone, blending natural beauty, cultural encounters, and thrilling activities.
